Nestled in the quintessential
village of Osmington.

Once you open the front door to the 18th century thatch cottage you will feel immediately at home and the worries of daily life will melt away as you adapt to the Dorset pace of life.

The cottage itself boasts 4 bedrooms, 3 with King size beds (one which has an ensuite and is on the ground floor) and 1 with adult size bunk beds and a permanent cot. Windows in the upstairs bedrooms are all under the thatch offering a lovely authentic cottage feel.

The living space has two generous sized areas, a downstairs cloakroom, the living room with board games and childrens’ toys galore, and ‘the snug’ with a large smart tv. The snug is the perfect place to hunker down on cooler rainy evenings, and have a movie or board game night. It also offers blissful cool to escape the heat during high temperatures.

There is a large fully equipped kitchen with aga, separate hob, additional small oven and large dining area, complete with all cooking utensils you would require. The downstairs bedroom and kitchen and dining spaces have doors opening out onto the sunny patio with comfortable lounge and dining seating.

The garden is large for a cottage, as it occupies the corner plot, with a spacious and well equipped patio, two sizeable grassy areas, a small pond (please supervise children for their safety) with two stunning cherry blossom trees and tulips which bloom in April. Parking at the house itself for one car, plenty of on-street parking for others.

The Story Behind the
much loved Post Office Cottage

This Cottage is so loved by Kate and her family who lived in the house during lockdown and would still be living there today if work didn't dictate them having to re-locate to London.

The History

Post Office Cottage is steeped in history, it was the old post office and village stores nestled in the heart of the village. It was built in the 19th century, and we believe the exact year to be 1857.

It was previously two separate stone buildings - one comprised the post office and the other a small dwelling where someone lived and sold stamps for use at the next door post office. It was sympathetically extended to link both buildings providing a sunny kitchen and dining area.
